Indigenous Partnerships

Indigenous people are underrepresented in Ontario’s food and beverage processing industry workforce by 1% when compared to the overall Canadian workforce. We want to help change that.

Exciting job opportunities for Indigenous youth

Indigenous people are underrepresented in Ontario’s food and beverage processing industry workforce by 1% when compared to the overall Canadian workforce. Yet, a study conducted by Food Processing Skills Canada indicated that Indigenous youth appear to be the most open to working in the sector when compared to recent immigrants, tenuously attached individuals to work, and youth.

Working with ONECA to connect Indigenous people to food entrepreneurship

Recognizing there’s an opportunity to better engage with Indigenous people on careers in the industry, and the potential for food entrepreneurship, CareersNOW! has partnered with the Ontario Native Education Counselling Association (ONECA).

ONECA is an organization comprised of First Nation Education Counsellors that was incorporated in 1985 and founded upon principles that recognize that although a variety of counselling and educational tools and programs exist in Ontario, the development of Native communities requires tools and programs designed specifically to improving Native counselling and education services.

Our shared goals for connecting Indigenous jobseekers to rewarding careers in Ontario’s food and beverage processing sector:

Awareness about the career opportunities in the food and beverage processing industry.

Outreach and promotion on careers in the food and beverage processing industry to key stakeholders that support Indigenous learners & jobseekers.
